Sr. DevOps & Cloud Engineer


Responsibilities:

  • Contributing to the design and implementation of secure, highly available and highly scalable solutions
  • Advising and assisting internal product teams in best practices for cloud deployment
  • Design and develop tooling, automation and services to enable product teams to Deploy, Support, Maintain, Develop, Test and Document their solutions
  • Participate in the Scrum process as a member of a team
  • Analyse existing solutions, presenting proposals for improvements and alternate strategies
  • Maintain an up-to date knowledge of recent industry developments, trends and best practices

Qualifications:

  • An active interest in new and upcoming software engineering technologies and practices
  • Linux/Unix Administration (Primarily Ubuntu)
  • Ability to explain technical ideas and concepts
  • Extensive understanding of best practices and IT operations
  • A solid understanding of networking and core Internet protocols (e.g. TCP/IP, DNS, HTTP)
  • In depth understanding of Cloud technologies, in particular AWS Services and tools (Cloud Formation, EC2, S3, Glacier, VPC, AWS CLI, Boto3 etc.)
  • Familiarity with configuration management software, preferably SaltStack
  • Use of the Git version control system
  • Familiarity with the use and configuration of CI & CD pipelines, such as Jenkins & AWS CodePipeline
  • Knowledge of High Availability, Scalable and Distributed Systems, familiar with quorums, leader election and limitations of CAP
  • Understanding of fundamental databases concepts for both relational and 'NoSQL' type persistence stores
  • Extensive experience with Python & Bash
  • Experience working with and building RESTful APIs
  • An interest in Full Stack software engineering
