SC-500A
System Controller
The SC-500A System Controller is an expandable platform designed to manage all communication and interface requirements for small to medium non-critical routing systems.
Housed in a 1RU frame the SC-500A System Controller manages the communication between multiple Quartz products and third party equipment. It can also be configured to provide communication translations between Q-Link, F-Link, RS422, RS232 and Ethernet.
The SC-500A is fitted with the advanced FU-0018 controller module.
The SC-500A is powered from a single external power supply that connects to the frame via a secure bayonet locking connector. A redundant external power supply can also be fitted if required.

This is an advanced controller and is most commonly used when the SC-500 is being deployed as a System Controller. As an advanced controller the FU-0018, in its standard configuration, provides two Q-Link ports, two F-Link ports, four RS422/RS232 serial ports and a single Ethernet port.

- Used as a Q-Link Master and/or a protocol converter for Quartz control panels when employed to control third party equipment
- Used as an external port expander to add extra serial and Q-Link ports to a system when there are no spare ports available on the router frame
- Used to distribute control panels among several Q-Link ports in order to provide an additional level of system protection

- Used to provide an Ethernet interface for Quartz products that do not have the option of an Ethernet port
